Suffocating Stench

Laszlo Aranyi

                Beyond human limitations,

                a film of ice breaking
on the window of his congealing delights.
Front wheel of the bicycle is gone,
                convulsive gnome dances among fat
        headscarved naiads:
he has escaped from the body bag.

The bent tries in vain to straighten up,
                but even a broken,
thigh-thick branch can tear the roof of a house.

Ours is an age of suffocating stench…
                The nausea is constant…
